The Survivors by Jane Harper
Young husband and father Kieran Elliott returns to the small coastal town in Australia where he grew up, to help his father struggling with dementia.
We don't know why Kieran left, but we know that his life radically changed forever because of a mistake he made. Returning to the town with his wife and baby bring back unimaginable guilt.
Then the body of a young woman is discovered on the beach. Is her death related to the event of Kieran's past? As a unique cast of characters come together to solve the murder, it turns out everyone has a secret of their own.
Why I Loved It: This transported me to the Australian coast, and all the characters (and their secrets) of a small town. A classic "whodunit" with literary flair.
